earth-day-celebration-photo1

worldchild,

Just had to drop you a line and let you know what a joy it was to share about world child last Friday at our campus wide Earth Day Celebration.  A lot of folks came by the “green gifting” table, got a green world child bracelet and laminated card.  The bracelets and cards were the most asked about items on the table. I had many opportunities to share with others about the people in other countries that have benefited from world child through the generosity of others.

It was indeed a blessing to be used of the Lord to share in this capacity in what is predominantly a secular environment.

Thank you and Bless you,

Sue

Green Christian Network asks the question

How should Christians respond to Earth Day?

Keep it all in perspective. Yes, we are to be good stewards of the planet. However, we are not to be earth “worshipers.” The earth is just another thing in our lives that God wants us to be a good steward with. Yes, it is important…However, Jesus Christ and His shed Blood is much more important.

They also give us some tips for today:

Plant a tree. This could be a fun family project.

Recycle. Take those cans you have been saving and turn them in.

Make the whole day green. Make eco choices all day long.

Clean up. Take your family to the park and clean up the junk left by others.

Make a point to add more green. Add at least one more green activity to your life.

Go on a nature walk. Enjoy the beautiful environment that God created for you.

Organic. Visit your local Ma and Pa farmer and shop for some earth friendly stuff.

Enjoy your day!

Thanks for your support! 2009 is off to an amazing start. God has been giving us glimpses of upcoming opportunities and fresh vision to take worldchild to a new place of impact and outreach. I believe the future has tremendous possibility–and NOTHING is impossible with God. Even when faced with tough economic times, our vision is still strong–and our mission still matters!

Our commitment to reach out with God’s love, power, and Word has not waivered. Our call to care for orphans in Africa, to send food, water, and clothing to children around the world is just as strong as it was four years ago when we began worldchild. We have seen God open supernatural doors of ministry and provide connections with people, churches, and pastors that have taken us to places we could not have even imagined. It’s as if God keeps nudging us to take another step and go a little farther—for Him.

We sincerely appreciate your faithful support. It’s what allows us to keep moving forward in the vision He has given us to make a real and lasting impact in places like Iraq, Ethiopia, Egypt, and Israel. Let me assure you the seeds you are planting today in the lives of children and young people around the world will reap a great harvest…for eternity.

Thank you for staying kingdom-focused even in these tough times.

I am so thankful for you, our friends and sponsors. That may sound cliche on Thanksgiving…but I couldn’t mean it more. This year we have been able to do significant things…and share God’s love with some of the most deserving–yet neglected–people on the planet. Without your support, we couldn’t have even begun to do this! Thank you for you love and concern for the world…and for standing with us to make an impact for Jesus! Happy Thanksgiving…

“God put Ethiopia on my heart many years ago but after our recent worldchild trek, the beautiful people there completely captured my heart.  The unspeakable conditions they endure—unclean drinking water, starvation, disease—it all broke my heart.  worldchild can make a difference there…”  -Sarah

Bridge to Israel in Ethiopia Orphanage is committed to bringing help, hope and blessings to many hopeless and impoverished children in Ethiopia where poverty, malnutrition, and HIV/AIDs are common.  They provide help to the most vulnerable members of society—the children—and strive to raise them up to become healthy, responsible and productive citizens.

Sarah and her worldchild team spent 8 days at the orphanage while on their trek to Ethiopia in July. They got to spend precious quality time with the 120 children the orphanage cares for.  To learn more about Bridge to Israel and the great work they do for the children of this region of Ethiopia, click here!  Our sponsors are the reason we can help Bridges to Israel and other orphanages across Africa.  Join us in saving children through this outreach and the many orphanages we support across Africa and around the world.

Ok, so we’re back & everything is peachy.  However, there are some really cool things on the horizon for greenbracelet & Ethiopia – so you’ll need to stay tuned.  :)

Sorry to miss yesterday – sometimes the internet thing here is rather indescribable.  That’s all I’m going to say on that.  :)

We had an awesome time this morning thanking God for bringing us to Ethiopia.  Everyone shared lots of different things they were thankful to God for over the last few weeks.  I think many of us have been profoundly touched by how much we have grown in God through lots of different events, people, experiences, etc.  It was amazing to listen to everyone & made me thoroughly in awe of God, His ways & wisdom.  As we finish up our time here, we want to come home & grow in the many ways God has challenged us – I think we all feel very humbled by His work in reprioritizing some of the values we’ve had.

I am in awe & very grateful.

So, we hop on the plane in a little over 6hrs, & we’re finishing up last minute stuff, saying good-bye to friends, packing, finishing last min shopping, etc – all on the backdrop of sensing God in our lives in very powerful ways.

We’re planning to get a facebook page for Global Expeditions & worldchild to upload photos, etc & I’ll post this address here on greenbracelet, once we get that figured out.

Thanks AGAIN & AGAIN for all the prayers.  We come home humbled & wanting to live out the changes God has worked in us over the last 2 weeks.

Thanks SO much for the great feedback from the posts!!!!!  I’ll be sure to tell everyone your messages & give them your love.  Our teams are doing awesome!!!  What an amazing privilege to get to minister with such high quality people.  I’m extremely humbled to be part of such a great group!!!

We had our first ministry day here & it was quite exciting!  Our two teams, Global Expeditions & worldchild combined together & we did some skits, songs & then broke into smaller groups to do some different kinds of ministry.  We also did some medical clinic work.  We had to cut short some of our plans & readjust to some cultural differences, but we’re very excited about what God is doing here.

I had a phenomenal dinner with the mayor & more than half a dozen gov’t officials last night & had tremendous favor.  I was able to share about how mom came here 25 years ago with food & Bibles & how we’re joining together for a good future for Gondar.  It was a very wonderful evening!

Also, our photographer will show up in the morning, so thanks for praying on that!!

I will be ministering about how God tests us in a couple of hours so if you’re thinking of me, please pray that I’m wise & that we have favor.

Along the prayer points, here are some fresh ones for today:

1 – wisdom:  pls pray that we’re wise as serpents & harmless as doves

2 – favor:  pls pray that we have favor with the leadership (political & religious) people of Gondar

3 – unity:  pls pray for God’s continued & increasing unity among our various groups – Ethiopians, Global Expeditions & worldchild

4 – safety & health:  ongoing pray for these areas.

Thanks again for all the support, encouragement & prayers!!!

p.s.  they see mom & i on daystar here.  :)

Yahooooo! We’re in Gondar and the place is wonderful!  We’ve connected really well w the Global Expeditions team & it’s a BLAST!!!!!  Seriously, love being with all of them!!!  We have common hearts & goals so its a great fit / flow!!!  Presently, everyone is working on the skits, games & kids stuff for the VBS’s that we’re doing for the next 3 days.  Isabell is planning to be in one of the skits.  :)

We’re staying at an orphanage & its an amazing place!  The people are super friendly & its extremely beautiful.  We had an interesting time with the airplane getting here – moving 70 plus people through an airport w their luggage in less than an hour.  Again, that’s all I’m going to say about that.  :)

Prayer points:  please pray for the following things -

1.  i meet w the mayor, political & religious leaders tonight for a dinner and to thank them for the privilege of ministering in their city.  Please pray that I have great favor with everyone.

2.  ministry coordination – pls pray that all of the coordination for the medical outreaches, vbs ministry & Friday’s tree planting goes well.

3.  church meetings – pls pray that God would use us tremendously to bless, strengthen & encourage the churches here.

4.  weekend healing meetings – pls pray that God’s power would be very dominate & that Jesus’ name would be lifted higher than any other name

5.  everyone stays healthy & strong.

I really appreciate the prayers & thanks for reading this blog!
